It’s my 3 Year Anniversary of Selling Photography on Etsy! What are Your Questions?

by Tricia

It’s my 3 year anniversary of selling photography on Etsy! To celebrate, I plan to spill the beans and share my secrets for Etsy success. What are your questions about selling your photography on Etsy? Let me know and I’ll write blog posts to answer your questions.

It’s been a bit of work, but it’s also been very gratifying to connect with people through my art. And making money doing what you love is a dream come true.

Thank you so much to the wonderful folks who have supported my art!

How do you get traffic to your photography etsy shop? I also have another shop but my photography site needs a lot of help.

Thanks!
Liz

Hi Liz!

Thanks so much for asking! What an excellent question!

This answer really deserves its own blog post, but I’ll go for the short and sweet answer here now. :)

My best strategies for getting traffic to my etsy shop are (and some peeps may disagree, but this is what works for me):
1. renewing
2. refreshing tags and titles for seasonal interest (for example, in the fall I will check my photographs and be sure to tag with words like autumn, fall, harvest, thanksgiving, orange, russet, bounty, cornucopia,… on any photographs that fit the theme)
3. when I have time (and this requires a moderate time commitment), I join a treasury team

I hope that gets you started! :)

First of all…congrats on your 3 year anniversary!

Could you talk a little bit about things like mission statements, USPs and taglines?

What are your thoughts on advertising (being a blog sponsor, etc.)?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience & knowledge with us :)

First off I think your work is amazing! I’m currently attending college for Photography and really hope that I can sell my prints someday. I would love to hear any advice I can from a successful seller. I have so many questions I don’t even know where to start! I have an Etsy shop now but I am very hesitant about selling prints of my work. I’m very excited to see what advice you have to give!

Thank you!

Hi and thanks for taking the time to answer questions. It’s appreciated! I’ve quite a bit of your blog so far but not everything so please forgive me if this is redundant.

I was wondering how long after you opened your shop and took your own advice did you start to see some real traffic?

Thanks!
Mish

Hi Tricia,
I was led to your blog today via the Etsy success link. I smiled HUGE when I saw this post because it has to have been about three years ago maybe that I featured your fab photo (the one above) on my newbie blog. I had no idea you had all these amazing posts and resources (i’m downloading your business plan right now) available. Thanks so much for being so generous with your thoughts, experiences, and time.

Hi Mish! It probably took about 2-3 weeks for me to start getting sales in my etsy shop. :)

Thank you Jen! It’s a small world, isn’t it? :)
